Several of our tools use ipapi.co to determine an approximate location and country from your IP address. The lookup is used to suggest defaults — for example, an approximate location for the Sunrise & Sunset calculator, the regional week-numbering standard (ISO 8601 vs. US) for the Week Number calculator, or the default time format (12-hour for US/Canada/Australia, 24-hour elsewhere) for tools that show a 12h/24h toggle (such as the Sleep Calculator, Work Hours Calculator, World Clock, Time Zone Converter, Time Duration Calculator, and Sunrise & Sunset). The lookup is performed at most once per browser and the result is cached locally — your IP address is not sent to ipapi.co again on subsequent visits. We do not store this data ourselves.
